About Us

SociGO was launched in South Africa by the Founders in 2018.

Mission

To increase the awareness of Deaf Culture/identity and Sign Language through Performing Arts, Music and Cinema for ALL people of all ages regardless of their abilities, race, creed or gender.

We also aim to enhance awareness and knowledge to those in the Deaf Community through Educational programmes and Workshops with the aim to Empower the Deaf Community

Our Aim

SociGO provides opportunities on request, in a variety of locations in the various provinces:

  • Workshops to improve and build leadership skills
  • Artist workshops to teach about Art and Culture

SociGO undertakes to provide more workshops relevant designed to empower Deaf artists and to show their talents.

Without sponsorship and support, we could not have workshops and festivals for the community in South Africa.

Our Vision

We envisage that the Deaf community and those with differing bilities in South Africa, will have, without language or other barriers, full access to all community activities regardless of race, creed, gender or abilities.

  • We create multicultural events that bring together the Deaf as well the members of all communities regardless of race, creed, gender or abilities.

  • We coordinate Festivals featuring international and local Deaf and Hearing Artist to showcase their talents. These festivals include: literacy, arts, drama culture, and food festivals.

  • We aim to empower Deaf Adults to assist in the coordination of various projects to enhance their skills and leadership abilities.

  • We enlist the skills of Deaf adults to support these festivals. e.g caterers, photographers, mentors/counselors etc We facilitate training and workshops where we share knowledge of important topics e.g. HIV/Aids awareness, work skills.

  • We facilitate kids camps for Deaf children where we run interactive workshops for Deaf school children to learn new creative skills such as dance, poetry, magic.

  • We work with schools to encourage Creative Skills for Deaf Children through the arts.

  • We encourage Deaf children to involve their families and friends to support their events.

Empowerment

We support lifelong learning through various activities by striving to:

  • Break down barriers to learning and understanding, through cross cultural events to ensure a society of inclusivity for ALL.

  • Improve the quality of life through self awareness and understanding of different cultures, to ensure successful interaction with all people to enable the Deaf to live work and thrive in their communities.

  • Empower people to realize their dreams and give them hope and the inspiration to do so.

To motivate and to advocate for the Deaf and those with other disabilities to have equal opportunities to participate and enjoy equal participation.

SociGO is an empowering team. We aim to empower people to have the perfect opportunity to showcase their skills in planning any event.

SociGO would like to provide an opportunity for every volunteer to be part of the various projects that we have. These can take place in different provinces, and they will get recognition for their skills, whether it be planning, hosting, finding artists and performers, etc. and anything else they can to make our events successful.

Once this project is complete, a new team is formed so other people can be part of the team, so we can share skills between all the people who are part of this project. If you are interested, please send us an email and state what your skills are and how you think you can help SociGO. Every volunteer will be given an opportunity to go for leadership training, so that they can have the chance to take the lead on a specific responsibility.

If you are interested in participating as a volunteer, please Contact Us.
