Purpose of the Workshop

What a meaningful session! 🙌 Our discussion explored how long-term commitment and collective effort can drive real change for South African Sign Language (SASL) in South Africa.

Through shared experiences between South Africa and Scotland, we reflected on what it takes to move from policy to practice, particularly in the South African context, following the recognition of SASL.

A special thank you to our guest speaker, Helen Morgans, from British Deaf Association Scotland, for sharing valuable insights.

We also appreciate Centre for Deaf Studies for partnering with us to host this workshop.

Some key reflections that stayed with us:

This session reminded us that meaningful change is built step by step through people, partnerships, and purpose.
